the weekend

Sewing continues with the completion of an actual, official shirt for Amelia.  In between the endless loop of removing seams and redoing them (I lost count but it's a wonder the fabric hasn't disintegrated), we went to watch the 5th Avenue Mile.  Usually we run it as well but this year is not panning out as we had thought it would.  Rire has a boot on his foot!

Brenda Martinez, Anna Pierce and Hannah England.  We absolutely act like crazed Bieber fans with the cheering, shouting and high fiving.  They are our rock stars.

Olympians Matt Centrowitz, Bernard Lagat and Leo Manzano.

They treat their fans well.

september 11th

I'm always a little thrown when the weather is exactly like it was 11 years ago.  The weather from that day has locked in my memory like no other day ever has.

must keep learning, blographer 2012

What a day!  I have deep rooted loyalty to Adorama.  Both my D70 and D300 were purchased there (I spent a few years working on the same block as their store, this resulted in many expensive lunch breaks...).  So when the email popped up about this event I was intrigued and even more so when I saw Rachel Devine - AKA Sesame Ellis - would be speaking. I wasn't familiar with the other speakers, but it all looked promising and it did not disappoint. Great advice and strategies, personal stories and a lot of food for thought regarding the battle over whether to watermark or not.

Erin, Vivienne and Amanda even offered up a little more time and joined a few of us on a walk to the Highline after the event.  Fielding more questions in between band-aid applications (new shoes and long NYC blocks are not friends).

So now it's time to make some plans and set some goals!

watching other people run

We watch track and field like other people watch baseball. This means we're glued to the TV now that the Olympic trials have started and our DVR is working double time. It's like our playoffs. Snacks and beer included. I can't wait for the Olympics.

Bernard Lagat making his move to the front as they approach the final lap of the 1500m.  NYC Diamond League 2012.
