running on empty

Getting out of bed when the alarm goes off has always been the hardest part of being a morning runner. I like (prefer!) to run first thing in the morning but that never stops the 30 second debate of should I or shouldn't I while I cram my head deeper into the pillow. Today was no exception. But once I'm up, I'm fine. Coffee, morning news for the weather, sneakers tied and I'm out the door.

Except for today. I wasn't feeling it.  I was out the door and to the park in 10 minutes. But something was off.  I felt fine physically but mentally I was somewhere else entirely. I've been doing this long enough to know when a run will clear my head, today wasn't one of those days.

So I turned around and went home.
